I Send My Blankets Over You
By Darya Funches

I send my blankets over you,
layers of energy meant to keep you
from any that would do you harm.

I send my blankets over you,
loving sweet thoughts of truth,
all you need to keep you warm.

I send my blankets over you,
Navigator of all waters come anew.
Use love as a shield that disarms.

I know you don’t need my protection.
I am only your heart’s true reflection.
I know that having my love
opens hearts like wings of a dove.

I send my blankets over you,
kindred Spirit of Shaka Zulu,
bringing love where anxieties brew.

I send my blankets over you.
Those who’ve loved me, I’ve loved you.
I’m loving you when you’re not looking.
I’m feeding you when you’re not cooking.
I fall asleep in the energy of your arms,
protected by your power, vision and charm.

I know you don’t need my protection.
I am only your heart’s true reflection.
I know that having my love
opens hearts like wings of a dove,

I send my blankets over you.
Because saying “I love you”
may cause all kinds of alarm.

So I send my blankets over you,
stepping into spaces of your essence so true,
breathing sweet nectar of two souls disarmed.

I send my blankets over you,
bringing comfort while you are blue.
Making a ring of fire, I say
“Mean spirits, be warned.”

I know you don’t need my protection.
I am only your heart’s true reflection.
I know that having my love
opens hearts like wings of a dove,

That’s why I send my blankets over you,
so your heart will never again be broken,
once you have the courage to let it open.

I send my blankets over you.
The Marys and Jesus send a Comforter too.
Men and women of the Waitaha true,
being warriors for peace and for love,
opening hearts like wings of a dove.

Brave warriors and warrioresses of Lakota Sioux,
Mayan and Incan ancestors are coming through.
All Spirits of the West Gate stand in clear view.
Choctaw, Cheyenne and Apache are dancing too.
Ancestors of the Dogon in Mali join us too.
Nubian Blanket Carriers bless us with love’s hues,
reminding us how to heal history’s residues.
Samurai, Druids and Bravehearts—claim your due.
Star Nations of all directions, make your way through.
The Dervishes and Tribes of all nations whirl blankets too,
blankets of light for the next waves coming to you.
All Grandmothers and Grandfathers come into view.
Angels and Archangels, we recognize you too.
Seers, Knowers, and Way Showers get thanks overdue.
Ancient ones sing from mountains they once knew.

Stand up for love; love, Pure Love so true.
Stand up and love all as Creator loves you.
Stand up for generations, past and future too.
Malcolm, Rosa, Martin and Fannie Lou—
those who give their lives for love, light
and freedom, we honor you—
Gandhi, Howard Thurman, Mother Theresa,
Dalai Lamas and Tiananmen Warriors too.
Wounded Knee, Dog Soldiers, Light Protectors come anew.
Harriett Tubman and Underground Conductors,
for your vision, love and courage, we salute you.

Wounds come from lessons, lessons come from wounds.
Wrap ourselves in blankets, as our lives are renewed.
Stand up. Stand up. Stand up.
I—send—my—blankets—over—you.
